WORDS FROM CATHERINE GRACE
I usually try and incorporate what is inspiring me at the moment into my working environment. I absolutely love the soft muted grey tones of Carrara marble; I had a piece cut from a factory off-cut, it acts as a desk surface, neatly on top of an inexpensive desk. The way the light plays off the marble provides constant inspiration.
I also draw from my desire for order when working. I love using stylish and interesting storage solutions - Uashmama washable paper bags and graphic boxes, for example.
My workspace says that I am passionate about what I do and that it carries over to my professional aesthetic and into my personal workspace. It also says that, at the moment, I am a bit obsessed with monochrome, blush, and gold. I like things relatively neat and ordered when working - this is probably a carry over from my years as a corporate lawyer!
I can’t live without flowers, notebooks and abundance of my favorite rollerball black pen; for some reason I can't stand using a blue pen!
My desk is in a small alcove located in our living room. I use the rest of the living room as a backdrop for my style and shoot by CATHERINEGRACE service. To be perfectly honest, if you visit my workspace you will likely see my toddler pottering around, Play-Doh and coloring books... as well as baskets of color-coded props and notebooks with customer briefs and ideas. I hope that visitors feel welcomed and draw some of their own inspiration from my place.
My theory is to surround yourself with items you love, colors and textures that inspire you, and space to breathe and find the next idea.
